Talking of an accidental politician in our dear Benue state, the immediate past member representing Katsina Ala/Logo and Ukum Federal Constituency, RT. Hon. Richard Gbande is the one because he was able to manipulate his way into the Green Chambers of the National Assembly in 2019 despite that he wasn’t prepared and qualified.
Gbande was the least qualified for the exalted position in 2019 but he was very lucky to secure the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party through the help of Dr. Gabriel Suswam who was aspiring to be a senator then. He went further to win the general election as a result of the popularity and strength which the return of Chief Samuel Ortom, PhD gave the People’s Democratic Party in 2018. Everyone that won his or her election under the PDP in 2019 won because of the popularity of Chief Samuel Ortom.
At the House of Representatives, Richard Gbande became very redundant and inactive until it became clear to him that his second term would be a tiny hole under a needle for his big horse to pass through. He tried to change the narrative but he had spent a larger part of his tenure at the Green Chambers without any single achievements except for few that he was able to record through the help of his godfather, Senator Suswam who had become the Chairman, Senate Committee on Power at that time. Gbande failed woefully.
Gbande had nothing to show for his four years at the House of Representatives apart from the cosmetic projects that were fraudulently showcased on the Social Media by a retinue of his Media Aide and a dozen of his “Data Boys”
His media handlers deceived the public on the social media with projects that were never his. Despite that Gbande received several millions of Naira for constituency projects, his achievements weren’t worth it. He failed woefully.
To cover his failure and incompetence, Gbande was always seen around Senator Gabriel Suswam. He acted as the senator’s house boy for the four years he was expected to make Laws, propose Bills and perform as a member of the House of Representatives.
His monumental failure caused the people of Sankera to demand a change in 2023. It was a big challenge for Dr. Suswam but he had no choice than to secure the second ticket for Gbande who lost to the will of the electorates at the general elections.
The People’s will prevailed as they voted massively for a Sankera crowned price, Rt. Hon. Solomon Wombo. Despite his bags of money with which he tried to buy votes and suppress the will of the masses, Richard Gbande was shown his way out of the Green Chambers by the electorates who desperately wanted a change.
Solomon Wombo in…..Gbande Out:
Immediately Wombo got into the House of Representatives, he started using his experience as a politician to drive in federal presence into Sankera. His constraint was the security challenge created by those who don’t want Sankera to develop.
With his experience, several projects had been started and completed by Hon. Solomon Wombo. This explains why opinion leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, students, artisans, union leaders, market men and women started calling on the lawmakers through various press statements and conferences to seek for a second term so he can do more. This is as a result of his massive achievements within a year and six months of his first term at the Green Chambers.
Pre 2027 tussle:
Because Gbande is planning to return to the House of Representatives and he has seen Wombo as a stumbling stone, the failed ex- lawmaker has now commissioned a team of Social Media handlers led by one Anum Absalum, a cousin to a former governor of Benue state, Senator Gabriel Suswam.
Anum Absalum is leading a team of fifteen social media handlers with a N50,000 monthly payment for each of them. Their duty is to repackage Gbande to ease his plan to represent Sankera at the House of Representatives in 2027.
Repackaging Gbande will also involve discrediting the current occupier of the office, Solomon Wombo. They have been tasked to make the people of Sankera to see nothing good about Solomon Wombo whom they have been calling to seek for a second term in office as a result of his massive achievements between June 2023 and now.
Some opinion leaders of Sankera who spoke with our team of Investigators wondered why Gbande has to make Suswam’s cousin the head of his social media team if the decision didn’t receive a direct approval of the former Senator. They wondered why Suswam will allow his own cousin to be used to cause tension in Sankera all in the name of repackaging a failed former lawmaker.
A full interview with opinion leaders in Sankera over the 2027 tussle, the repackaging of Richard Gbande and the plot to bring Solomon Wombo down will be published by this newspaper shortly..
