The immediate past Governor of Benue State and Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, has maintained that there is no division in the Benue chapter of the party.
Chief Ortom made this position known when a candidate for the position of PDP Zonal Chairman for the North Central Zone in the forthcoming Zonal Congress of the party, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed, paid him a visit to solicit his fatherly blessings to enable him contest for the position.
The former Governor stated that, as far as the PDP in Benue State is concerned, Rt. Hon. Ezekiel Adaji is the Chairman of the party in the state, unanimously elected by the State Congress. He stated that any person or group of persons parading themselves outside the Adaji-led PDP is an impostor who should be arrested by security agencies.
On his expectations from the forthcoming North Central Zonal Congress of the party billed to take place in Jos, Plateau State, Chief Ortom said he expects nothing short of a transparent, free, and fair zonal congress, adding that the PDP is a party known for its respect for the rule of law and due process.
Earlier, the aspirant for the party’s Zonal Chairmanship position, Hon. Abdulrahman, said it was the instrumentality of Chief Ortom, then as Governor of Benue and Leader of the party in the North Central Zone, that enabled him to become the Deputy National Auditor of the PDP, promising to elevate the party at the Zonal level, if elected.
The candidate and the entire FCT chapter of the party, led by its Chairman, Ismaila Mohammed Dogara, took advantage of the visit to condole Chief Ortom over the death of his immediate younger brother, Bernard Ortom.
Accompanying the former Governor to receive the delegation were Barr. Micheal Gusa, Dr. Sarwuan Tarnnongo, Hons. James Anbua, Terver Akase, Joseph Odaudu, Abrahams Kwaghngu, and Dr. Adzer Abya.
Others included Col. Paul Hemba (Rtd), Hon. Azua Ashongo, Abraham Waroh, Patrick Modom, Barr. Clement Mue, and Dr. Frank Kyungun.
