The immediate past Governor of Benue State and Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Chief Samuel Ortom, PhD as well as a governorship aspirant and former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Mike Kaase Aondoakaaa, SAN
have described a former first Lady of the State, Dr. Eunice Ortom, as a resilient and compassionate woman who has devoted her life to the upliftment of women, youth, and the less privileged in society.
Chief Ortom made the remarks at a thanksgiving service for the former First Lady to mark her 53rd birthday and the one-year anniversary of the Spring Bloom Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, founded by Dr. Mrs. Ortom, for the promotion of the economic well-being of its members and society.
The former Governor, while making his donation to support the Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, opted to double the amount that was donated to the beneficiaries of the maiden Spring Bloom empowerment programme. He appreciated God for the life of his wife, describing her as a prayer warrior and a strong pillar of support behind his successes.
Earlier in her remarks, the initiator of the Spring Bloom Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited and immediate past First Lady of Benue State, Chief Mrs. Ortom, said the organization was birthed to encourage its members to imbibe the spirit of savings, mutual support, self-sufficiency, and several other mutual benefits.
Mrs. Ortom noted that the initiative is also aimed at uplifting the less privileged and the vulnerable in society and called on people with the desire to venture into business enterprises to join, adding that there is no gender discrimination.
On her part, the Coordinator of the Cooperative Society, Chief Monica Ugela, expressed gratitude to God, the founder Dr. Mrs. Ortom, and members of the organization, and called on Benue women yet to join the cooperative to take advantage and upgrade their economic status.
Speakers, including Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa (SAN), Prof. Dennis A. Ityavyar, Dr. Mathias Byuan, Rt. Hon Terkaa Ucha , Hon. Thomas Unongo (who spoke for himself and on behalf of former Senate President Bukola Saraki), as well as Dr. Terris Damsa Gmf , all made substantial donations to support the programme and commended the former First Lady for the initiative.
In his words, Chief Kaase Aondoakaaa described Mrs Ortom as a mother who fully dedicated herself to the development and growth of women and children of Benue State during her eight years as first Lady.
Aondoakaaa, SAN pressed further that Mrs Ortom’s landmark is a permanent one which every future first Lady of the State must build upon.
He however prayed for a long life in good health for the Benue’s former first Lady.
Other dignitaries who made donations included Rt. Hon. Dickson Tarkighir, Hons. Solomon Gyila, Blessed Onah, Mrs Farida Waziri and Rt. Hon. William Ortyom.
Meanwhile, Iorlaim Blessing, Ortese Gladys, Samuel Peace, Ojomah Gloria, Ogunbande Deborah, Dzungwe Maureen, Ayuba Bathsheba, Ayasha Patience, Akpan Janet, Shachiya Vivian, Andyar Favour, Akosu Janet, Akinde Tolulope, Odugh Esther, Nwaeze received cash as the first beneficiaries of the Spring Bloom Multi-Purpose Cooperative Empowerment Scheme.
