The Chairman of the Benue state Unity Caretaker Committee of All Progressives Congress, Chief Benjamin Omale has said that it’s only the state executive committee which he leads that can decide the party primaries for the forthcoming local government elections.
Stating this in a press statement he signed and sent to journalists this morning, Omale said: “As the only recognised and legitimate executive body of the party at the moment, it is their responsibility to steer the activities of the party in Benue State’
He added that all informations, directives and activities towards the forthcoming local government elections must come directly from the Benue State Unity Caretaker Committee Of the APC.
According to Omale, the responsibilities of the Committee include the sale of nomination forms, organisation and conduct of the local government party primary elections amongst others.
He recalled that their appointment and inauguration by the National Working Committee of the APC in Abuja on the 21st of August 2024 was not just a formality but a crucial decision taken to safeguard and unite the party for progress.
He further stressed that, the APC in Benue State under their leadership is committed to upholding the values of the party, strengthening and building trust as well as protecting the interest of all members of the Party.
Omale therefore called on members of the public especially all APC members to disregard any purported local government Councilorship or Chairmanship Party primary elections alleged to have been held by the dissolved executive members under the leadership of the former Chairman Austin Agada, saying the exercise is an illegality, inconsequential and not recognised by the leadership of the APC both in Benue State and at the National Level of the All Progressives Congress APC.
He also called on all members of the party to respect the decision of the National Working Committee of the party so as to maintain order and unity stressing that they have a mandate to spearhead the affairs of the Party for six months.
