Since the return of party politics in 1999 after several years of military incursion in democratic governance, the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency has had the privilege of electing six representatives to the Green Chambers of the National Assembly Abuja.
For clarity, Ikyurav-Ya in Kwande East first enjoyed the seat through Hon. Moses Akuha Tor Gbande and now Hon. Terseer Ugbor. Chief Col. Benjamin Aboho from Turan Kwande East did a single term of four years while Hon. Benjamin Wayo of Usar Kwande East enjoyed the juicy office followed closely by his brother Hon. Bob Tyough of Nanev in same Kwande West Constituency.
Out of the over 26 years of representative politics, the Ushongo divide of the Federal Constituency had only two of their illustrious sons viz: Rt. Hon. Terfa Atii from Mata and Hon. Chile Igbawua from Mbagwa elected to the National Assemly.
Natural justice, equity and fair play therefore demands that the 2027 representative seats be ceded to Ushongo and micro-zoned to UTANGE linage which shares brotherhood with UKAN who incidentally are more advantageous in accessing political patronage.
TIME FOR ASAWA, AN UTANGE MAN
Whether admired or criticized Hon. Joseph Asawa, he stand out as one of the most consequential mobilizers, leaders and the conscience of the People’s Democratic Party in Kwande/Ushongo Federacy.
His commitment to the PDP is not theatrical. It is rooted in action. One example across time will illustrate this point. Since 2015, he was there when virtually every other person left to eat the crumbs from the APC and he is still here.
Hon. Joseph Asawa will be assuming the position of the House of Representatives with vast experience, education, exposure and the needed connect having served as Special Adviser (Media), Local Government Secretary, Council Chairman, National Delegate and Secretary of Congress Organizing Committee in Lagos State.
No wonder, his consultation for the plum office received thunderous ovation in Lessel recently and has continued throughout the major intermediate areas of Kwande clans.
Infact, the Consensus among party men and women now is that “Everything House of Representative for Kwande/Ushongo 2027 Na Asawa – Asawa”
