Benue Anti Corruption Watch has accused the immediate past vice chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi, Mr. Dominic Iorfa of secret plots to destabilize the Benue-owned football club and the management under the leadership of Mr. Philip Nongu with baseless accusations in the media.

The group also exposed a former deputy governor (name withheld) as one of the people that are sponsoring the sacked vice chairman in his media attacks against the current management of the club as well as the state government.

According to the group, Iorfa was making a monthly cash payment to the former deputy governor for the three years which he spent as the head of the club.

The group which made this revelation in a press conference addressed by its General Secretary, Comrade Liambe Jonathan said that Iorfa who was sacked unceremoniously as a result of the weighty allegations of fraud, match fixing and high-handedness against him is planning to hold a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday where he plans to pitch the public against Lobi Stars as well as the administration of Father Hyacinth Alia with lies.

The group stated that Iorfa should own up to the massive frauds which were traced to him and his accomplices, and refund the money which he has been asked by a fact-finding panel to refund to the purse of the State government rather than using the social media to gain public sympathy.

“Our reports showed that Iorfa is only using media attacks and baseless accusations against his successor, Mr. Philip Nongu to cover up for the crimes he committed as Lobi Stars CEO. Iorfa and a former deputy governor were both sharing allocations of the club for more than three years and we expect him to own up to his sin” the statement reads in parts.

The group stated further that the sacked Lobi Stars Vice Chairman during his planned press conference should also remember to explain the N7 million which he was giving as a kickback to a former deputy governor of the State (Name withheld) from the allocations of the Club for more than three years.

Benue Anti Corruption Watch disclosed that Nongu’s efforts to reposition the club is one of the things which Iorfa and one coach in the club, Mr. Austin Tyowua want to sabotage.

“Iorfa has hired a certain coach in the club to help him frustrate the efforts being made by Philip Nongu to reposition the club. That is why he has gathered online editors to address them in Abuja on Wednesday even when he knows that all he plans to tell them about his successor, the club and the state government are pure lies” the statement reads.

According to the group, Iorfa cannot claim credit for the achievements of Lobi Stars Football Club when he was the vice chairman as the efforts were jointly made by the team players and staff.
