Group lauds Benue APC over endorsement of Tinubu, Alia as party’s sole candidates

Nigerian Defenders for Democracy has applauded the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress over its pronunciation of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia as the party’s sole Presidential and Governorship candidates in 2027.

The group in a press statement signed by its president, Chief Adeogun Ademola said that the endorsement is an indication that All Progressive Congress is still in control of future elections in Benue state.

The group while thanking the Chairman of the Unity Caretaker Committee of All Progressive Congress, APC in Benue state, Chief Benjamin Omale noted that the endorsement is a big win for the party in the state and Nigeria as a whole as there wont be any controversy over party candidacy in 2027.

The group lauded Omale for providing a good leadership for the party in Benue state as a result of his wealth of experience, stressing that a lot of progress had been recorded under the Omale-led Unity Caretaker Committee.

The group also praised Omale and members of his team for providing supports for Governor Alia to achieve so much within two years in office.

Recall that The All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State Chapter has endorsed the Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia and his deputy, Dr. Sam Ode as sole candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election in Benue State.

Similarly, the party has also endorsed President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Shettima as the only presidential candidate the party they would support in the state for the 2027 general elections.

The party took this decision on Thursday at IBB square Makurdi during the second anniversary celebration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in office.

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) in the Benue State House of Assembly for Logo State Constituency, Mr. Jiji supported the endorsement, saying he was moved by the achievements of the Governor in the last two years in office.

Speaking during the occasion, the APC Caretaker Chairman in the state, Mr. Benjamin Omale, noted that the governor has done a lot to transform the state and his achievements in office were speaking for him, describing the governor as a blessing to the Benue people.

While appealing to the Benue people to support the governor to continue to execute the people oriented projects, the party chairman stressed that he and the leadership of the party in the state would remain loyal to the governor even as he insisted that anyone that chooses to contest with the governor would be wasting his time.

Addressing the Benue people during the occasion, Governor Alia, who appreciated the party leadership for the endorsement, said he would work harder in the remaining two years and the four years in his second term in office.

Governor Alia enumerated his achievements in office in the last two years including the construction of roads in the three senatorial zones, provision of one hundred buses to Benue Links to ease transportation problem, provision of farm inputs to the Benue farmers to promote agriculture, prompt payment of salaries and pension and proactive approaches to security threats in the state among others.

While lamenting the security challenges staring in the faces of the Benue people, the governor assured that the challenge would soon become a thing of the past, adding also that about forty thousand civil servants received training on e-governance so as to digitalise governance in the state.

In his comment, the Chairman, APC Elders’ Forum in the state, Chief Barnabas Gemade appreciated the Governor for the wonderful work he has done in the last two years and assured the Governor of the full support of the Benue people saying, no one would contest with him in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

The chairman of the occasion, Brig. Gen John Atom Kpera (retired), in his remarks lauded the transformative efforts of the Governor and sued for support for the governor to continue with the good work even as he encouraged the governor to maintain the spirit.

Other speakers during the even including, the Women leader, Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, traditional rulers, youth leader and the representative of the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly among others lauded the development efforts of the Governor and promised to support him to achieve more for the state.
