Action Against Extra judicial Killings, a pressure group saddled with the responsibility of protecting Nigerians against massacres has called on President Bola Tinubu to review the appointment of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, saying that he has succeeded in using Bishop Wilfred Anagbe to bring the Federal government to disrepute before the International Community.
The group in a press briefing this morning said that the SGF should be made to explain why he nominated Bishop Wilfred Anagbe to be on the delegation of the Federal Government to the US where he testified that the Tinubu-led administration is encouraging genocides in the country.
According to the text of the press conference which was read by the National Convener of the advocacy group, Barrister Chuks Ohakim, Esq, all the derogatory speeches which Anagbe who was sponsored by Senator Akume to attend the briefing of the United States House Subcommittee on Africa over violence against Christians in Nigeria and Benue State have further put the country in the bad book of the American government.
The advocacy group urged the SGF to tell the public in which capacity he nominated Bishop Anagbe and procured him a visa as a delegate from the federal government to the US event.
The group said: “Is Anagbe the governor of Benue State or the president of the Federal Republic that he would be the one to go to the US to speak for Benue State and Nigeria. Why did the SGF block the governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia and made sure that he wasn’t part of federal government delegation that went to the US for the events.
“Can we now agree that Senator Akume sponsored Anagbe to go and embarrass the Nigerian government as well as Benue State before the International Community. Can he also explain to the public why he sponsored another Reverend Father for the US briefing. This is a Reverend Father who refused to give accurate interpretations so all the things that woman who was also sponsored by the SGF was saying during her testimonies.
“Why did the Reverend Father fail to interprete the aspect where the woman told the Organizers that there was even a time the Benue State Governor asked that dead bodies of the people that were killed at a point be removed from the scene. Why did he fail to interprete the aspects where the women testified about the good things the governor is doing to protect his subjects.
“Why didn’t Akume allow Alia to be part of the delegation and to at least speak for Benue State since he was aware that the killings in Benue State would also be discussed. Why did he prefer to get a visa for a woman and her child from the IDPs. Why did he get visas for Anagbe and the other Reverend Father who only went there to embarrass the federal government with their bogus lies.
“With what Akume pushed Anagbe to say before the US Congress, it is now clear that foreign investors will be afraid to come and invest in Nigeria. Anagbe has made the whole world to know now that Nigeria isn’t safe at all. His testimonies has further caused problems for the federal government as President Donald Trump will now intensify his plots to bring US soldiers to descend on Nigeria”
The group however called on the President to immediately sack Akume as his SGF and initiate a probe into his involvement in the national embarrassment and indictment which Bishop Anagbe has caused for the federal government, Benue state and the entire nation as a result of his testimonies before that US Congress..
The group also called for an immediate arrest of Anagbe as soon as he returns to the country so he can explain the reason for the national embarrassment he caused for the country.
