The senator representing Benue Northwest Senatorial District, Dr. Titus Zam has come another intense heat as constituents in his zone have exposed his non performance, poor representation and lack of integrity since he was elected as senator in 2023.
This fresh campaign against the Benue Senator which was led by an elder of the APC in the zone, Hon. Asema Richard
came few weeks after the EFCC and ICPC released a petition sent to the anti graft agencies to investigate him for multi-bullion naira frauds to the media.
According to previous reports published by Nigerian Concord Newspaper, Senator Zam is being probed by the EFCC and ICPC for mismanaging billions of Naira while he was an Adviser in the state Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs between 2015 and 2018
Recall that the senator was sacked by the then governor, Chief Samuel Ortom, PhD as a result of his zero tolerance for corruption and mismanagement.
In his article titled: 2027 general elections, the National Assembly members from Benue State and the provision of dividends of democracy in the state, Asema who led the campaign against the Senator stated that the Benue Northwest Senatorial Zone’s senator, Dr. Zam has failed woefully and doesn’t deserve a second term in office.
According to the author, the poor representation from Senator Titus Zam is a reason why the most ideal candidate for the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria must have the requisite cosmopolitanism and right national and global network to enable him or her impact on state policies by way of legislation.
Asema noted that since Senator Zam was elected as senator in 2023, he has abandoned the zone like an umbrella that becomes a burden after the rains. “And with the prevailing poverty occasioned by the sudden removal of fuel subsidy, most party stakeholders and elders are on life support and needs servicing. Even the conventional “Thank you visit” that normally follows after every election by those elected has not been carried out” he stressed.
He added that it is about three years now that the senator has been in the National Assembly with no evidence to show that he has conducted any constituency-briefings after collecting millions and billions of naira for this function.
On insecurity, Asema said: “Our Benue North-West Senatorial District is the most raved in terms of insecurity with about 60% of the population displaced and caged in inhuman IDP camps” He accused the senator representing the zone of insensitivity to the plight of the people, noting that his inability to ensure that the Anti-open Grazing Law is made a national law leaves much to be destined.
Asema pressed further that the senator has been playing chess with the blood of his constituents in Zone B, adding that it looks as if he does not care even if the walls of Jericho are collapsing on his people.
The author blasted Senator Titus Zam for abandoning the Wannune International Market project, saying that “it is dead and buried even with the SGF. A Benue son is the Minister of Water Resources and the Gboko Water Works is still comatose with no water project in Wannune, his political god father’s home town and leader of APC in Northern Nigeria”
