Benue Intelligence Watch has warned the Benue APC stakeholders led by Senator Titus Zam over their planned youths protests and media attacks on Governor Hyacinth Alia following the State House of Assembly saga that led to the resignation of the former speaker, Mr. Dajoh Aondoana.
Mr. Dajoh Aondoana resigned his position as speaker of the State House of Assembly some days ago while he called on all parties involved in the saga to embrace peace for the state to move on under the administration of Father Hyacinth Alia.
Meanwhile, there are reports that members of the Benue State National Assembly Caucus and federal appointees from the State led by Senator Titus Zam and Mr. Pius Akutah of the Nigerian Shippers Council have contacted media influencers to attack the State governor over the resignation of the former speaker.
According to reports, members of the political family of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume are not comfortable with the election of Mr. Berger Alfred as the new speaker. “They actually wanted someone from Jemgbagh to replace Dajoh” a source told this newspaper.
But reacting to the development in a press statement signed by its Director of Press and Communication, Chief Thomas Kurugh, this morning, the group warned that the “so-called stakeholders” are planning to cause a breakdown of law and order in Benue state if the report of their planned youth protests on the Assembly saga is anything to go by.
Benue Intelligence Watch added in the statement that there should be no cause for alarm since the former speaker didn’t raise any suspicion that he resigned under duress. “He resigned voluntarily for peace to reign according to him so the planned youth protest which is being sponsored with tax payers money from Abuja is uncalled for” the statement added.
The group stressed that the state government will not be moved by the planned press conferences and media attacks which were paid for by the duo of Titus Zam and Pius Akutah since the people of Benue State are now aware that all they want is to destabilize the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The statement reads in parts: “Our investigation has shown that these so-called stakeholders have ganged up again to stir crisis in Benue state over the Assembly matter which has been put to rest. Dajoh has resigned voluntarily and a new speaker has been unanimously elected. So why are they still paying youths to embark on street protests against the new Assembly leadership. Why are they paying media influencers to start attacking the administration over nothing.
“We are calling on our dear father, Senator George Akume to stop his men from carrying out their threats which are capable of causing crisis in Benue state. If Senator George Akume doesn’t have hands in this satanic plot, he should quickly caution Senator Titus Zam and Barrister Pius Akutah to stop the plan.
“The leader of the Benue Youth Forum, Mr. Terrence Kuanum whom they want to use for this sponsored street protest is directly connected to the SGF and this is a pointer that he (Akume) may not be unconnected to the plot. Members of the Benue Youth Forum under Kuanum have started bringing youths from Nasarawa and Taraba states to join the protests which are fixed for Wednesday in Makurdi and Abuja.
“We are now calling on President Bola Tinubu, the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS to be on the alert and know those to hold liable if there is a breakdown of law and order in Benue state”
