The Benue State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress has lauded Governor Hyacinth Alia for following the directive of President Bola Tinubu to meet with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume over a way to resolve the ongoing massacres in the state.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu last Wednesday at a Town Hall Meeting in Makurdi directed Father Hyacinth Alia to meet with the SGF and then form a Committee of past governor the state with Mr. Atom Kpera as the chairman.
This morning, Father Alia showed a sign of respect for the Office of the President by visiting Senator George Akume at his Maitama residence in Abuja after he had submitted the list of the Committee to the Presidency.
Speaking in a press statement on behalf of the Benue State APC Unity Caretaker Committee, the Chairman, Chief Benjamin Omale lauded the governor for his humility, and respect for President Bola Tinubu
The statement reads in parts: “We wholeheartedly commend His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his remarkable show of humility, maturity, and leadership in paying a courtesy visit to our distinguished elder statesman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency Senator George Akume.
“This historic visit is not just a personal gesture—it is a bold step toward healing, unity, and the restoration of political harmony in our dear state. By reaching out with respect and open arms, His Excellency has once again proven that he is a leader committed to peace, progress, and the collective good of the people of Benue.
“We are inspired by his wisdom and courage, and we stand with him in this noble journey of building bridges and fostering cooperation. This singular act has rekindled hope in the hearts of many, and we pray it yields lasting fruits of unity, development, and divine favour for the land and people of Benue.
“May the Almighty God continue to guide and protect Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Furthermore, Omale said that with the historic visit, the governor has demonstrated his readiness to work with everyone concerned so that insecurity can be curbed in Benue state.
According to the Benue APC chairman, Governor Hyacinth Alia has proved to be a good, listening, caring and responsible leader who has placed the safety of Benue people above his personal interest
He also lauded the governor for not playing politics with the lives of Benue people by immediately taking to the presidential directive which said that he should hold an immediate meeting with Senator George Akume.
