Following Governor Hyacinth Alia’s take over of the structure and E-Registration exercise of the Benue State chapter of All Progressive Congress, APC, the coalition of APC Youths has raised an alarm, accusing the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume of sending operatives of the EFCC after associates and appointees of the State governor.
The group in a press statement signed by its Secretary, John Amase, and made available to journalists this afternoon said that Senator Akume is fighting a war that will affect the reelection bid of President Bola Tinubu in Benue State if he isn’t checked in good time.
The group pressed further that a secret meeting which th SGF has with top officials of the EFCC three days ago is to clamp down loyalists and associates of Governor Hyacinth Alia because the governor has dominated the party’s E-Registration exercise.
The group wondered why Akume is working against those that are helping President Bola Tinubu to build the All Progressive Congress in Benue state by ensuring that the ongoing E-Registration is well mobilized for.
The statement reads: “President Bola Tinubu should quickly curb the excesses of his SGF so that he won’t use his selfishness to hand over Benue electorate to the opposition parties in 2027.
“Because he is fighting Governor Hyacinth Alia, the SGF has boycotted the ongoing E-Registration exercise. He is aware that the people of Benue State want Alia as a result of his quality performance. And also the governor has taken over the exercise because he wants to ensure that the party wins the state in 2027.
“Instead of the SGF to praise Governor Alia for his efforts by mobilizing hugely for the E-Registration, he has been holding secret meetings with security agencies to start arresting those who are working day and night for the success of the party in Benue state”
