The Chairman of the Unity Caretaker Committee of the Benue State Chapter of All Progressive Congress, Chief Benjamin Omale has condemned media reports that Governor Hyacinth Alia paid a whooping N5 billion to the three judges that sat on the just-concluded local government elections appeal in Abuja.
Recall that some online newspapers had two days ago reported that the governor bribed the three judges for them to rule on the appeal in the favour of the Benjamin Omale-led Unity Caretaker Committee of the APC
Meanwhile, Chief Omale while addressing some journalists in Makurdi this morning said that the report was a lie from the pit of hell.
Omale stated that the Appeal Panel that sat on the local governments elections appeal only ruled based on the merits of the case which was presented to them by the authentic faction of the party in Benue state.
According to him, Governor Alia is a man of integrity and he will not stain his name by going to bribe judges in a case he knew from the start that he would win.
Omale stated that the judges that sat on the appeal are true faces of the Judiciary whom no one can bribe to subvert the wish of the masses.
“We presented our cases with facts and merits and we had no reason to bribe anyone. We won at the Appeal because the judges saw merits in our briefs so anyone that is saying that Governor Hyacinth Alia bought the judgement with whatever amounts is being economical with truths” Omale said.
Meanwhile, the Benue APC chairman has also berated some Catholic priests who addressed a press conference in Abuja few days ago where they called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a State of Emergency as the only solution to the ongoing killings in the state.
Chief Omale while reacting to the call said that calling for a State of Emergency isn’t the solution but a collective effort and maximum cooperation with Governor Hyacinth Alia to tackle the insurgents.
According to him, the governor had prioritized the safety of the people of Benue state and he is doing everything to curb insecurity in the state.
Omale however called in security agencies to quickly probe Benue politicians who are using the lives of Benue people to play politics and to settle scores with Governor Hyacinth Alia.
