A former Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN has called on the Benue State Government to provide a level playing field devoid of violence and intimidation for all aspirants to freely contest and campaign, emphasizing that the most popular candidate should emerge victorious.
He made this call in Ushongo during a meeting with the Kwande G84 group. The group comprising of respected elders drawn from across political parties within the Kwande intermediary advocating the Kwande 2027 governorship agenda.
Chief Aondoakaa stated that his visit was to seek the blessings and permission of the people to contest and commence wider consultations. He noted that the abundant mineral resources in Kwande must be protected and harnessed for the benefit of the people, particularly through the employment and empowerment of youths, rather than being exploited for the benefit of few individuals as it is witnessed.
He assured that, if elected governor, he would leverage these resources to drive development in Kwande. He further stressed that the security of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government and pledged never to sacrifice the interests of the people for personal gain. According to him, “if a people are determined, they can solve their own problems.”
Earlier in his welcome address, the leader of the group, Barrister Vincent Uji, warmly received the former Minister and acknowledged his contributions to the Kwande cause. He stated that the sole aim of the group is to ensure that Kwande produces the governor of Benue State in 2027. Uji extolled Aondoakaa’s leadership qualities, describing him as eminently qualified to lead the state and expressing confidence in his capacity to deliver if given the opportunity.
Also speaking, Elder Atsaga Anemba, Elder Mayange, Dr. Boniface Ukende, Chief Mrs. Veronica Gajir, Elder Paul Agu, Pharm. Patrick Ahenjir, Hon. Azua Ashongu, among others, in their separate remarks, assured Aondoakaa of the support of the Kwande people and offered prayers for the success of his consultations.
