Benue For Good Governance, BFGG, has called on the National Judicial Council, NJC to quickly stop plots by the senator representing Benue Northwest, Dr. Titus Zam to manipulate the Benue State Local Government election petition at the Appeal Court in Zone B against the will of the masses.
The three-man Appeal Panel will be ruling on the Appeal in Benue Northwest from the Austin Agada-led faction of the All Progressive Congress next week Monday.
Recall that the Tribunal sitting at the NBA House in Abuja had last month ruled in favour of almost all the candidates of the Benjamin Omale-led Unity Caretaker Committee in the case of Benue Northwest.
Speaking with journalists this morning, the Secretary of Benue For Good Governance, Barrister Joel Anagbe said that Senator Titus Zam is already working with the embattled Chief Judge of the State, Justice Maurice Ikpwambese to buy the Appeal Court judgement in Zone B as part of the instructions which the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume gave him immediately he returned from Rome last week.
“Akume clearly made it known to Senator Zam that he must do all to upturn the Alia faction’s victories in Benue Northwest at the Appeal Court if he still wants to return as senator from the Zone in 2027”, Barrister Anagbe said.
Anagbe pressed further that his own brother who is a Catholic Bishop, Bishop Wilfred Anagbe is part of the plans to manipulate the Appeal Court judgements next week starting from the ones in Zone B which have been fixed for Monday.
Benue For Good Governance through Joel Anagbe stated that a meeting between Senator Zam and Chief Justice Ikpwambese and one prominent member of the Appeal Panel (Name withheld) will be taking place at the SGF’s residence in Maitama area of Abuja later today where they will look at the original judgements for the zone.
“I can tell you authoritatively that Senator Titus Zam is personally footing the bills to bribe the judges in the case of Zone B since he wants to prove to the SGF that he is still in charge of all the political activities there. My brother (Bishop Wilfred Anagbe) is also the one handling the movement of funds to avoid suspicion. We aren’t proud of him as members of his family but we will say our own to the world since he has turned a deaf ear to our advice” Joel Anagbe stressed.
The group however appealed to the NJC to stop the impending judicial rascality which will through Benue state into chaos. The group also urged the NJC to quickly check the political activities of the Benue Chief Judge who is supposed to stay neutral in an election matter.
