Benue For Good Governance, a prominent pressure group in Benue State has dragged the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah over his comments on the forthcoming general elections in Benue State.

Akutah while speaking with some reporters yesterday said that the only strength which President Bola Tinubu who is the likely presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress will have in Benue state in 2027 lies in the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, the SGF was the only rallying point that can make the president win Benue State in 2027.

But reacting to the statement credited to Akutah, Benue For Good Governance in a press release issued to journalists this evening by its Director of Press, Mrs Dooshima Lucky said that Akutah was being economical with truths in his comments.

The statement said that the people of Benue State who have decided to vote for President Bola Tinubu in 2027 are doing so because of the State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia whom they believe will not lead them astray.

The group reminded Akutah that Senator George Akume lost his reelection bid to the Senate in 2019 as a result of his unpopularity.

“How can someone say that the same person is the only rallying point for the president to win in Benue state in 2027. Can Akutah mention the structure which Senator George Akume has in Benue state with which he wants to canvass for votes for the president?

“For clarification sake, Father Alia is the only one that has been moving round across the twenty three local governments in Benue State to mobilize supports for the president.

“And if there is anyone who has done so much to ensure that President Bola Tinubu has a smooth ride in Benue state in 2027, that person is Governor Hyacinth Alia” the statement reads in parts.

On insecurity, the group asked Akutah to mention the efforts which the SGF has personally made to support the vulnerable people in the affected parts of Benue State.
