The Ihyarev PDP Family Association, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Avine Agbom, has reaffirmed its unwavering support for the leadership of the former Governor of Benue State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Samuel Ortom, describing his leadership as one that transcends Minda to encompass the entire Benue State.
They expressed gratitude for the support he has consistently extended to their daughter, Dr. Eunice Ortom, over the years. They particularly appreciated him for providing her with the platform and encouragement that enabled her to attain remarkable heights and record achievements that have positively impacted the lives of many people.
According to the group, it was Dr. Eunice Ortom’s accomplishments and humanitarian contributions that earned her recognition and adoption by the leadership of the Minda Elders Forum, describing the development as an opportunity for her to further distinguish herself, Minda, Zone B and Benue State.
They expressed confidence in Dr. Eunice Ortom’s readiness to shoulder the responsibility before her, assuring her of their prayers, solidarity and active support. They also pledged to establish and strengthen structures across the local government areas where the Ihyarev people are domiciled in order to mobilise support for her senatorial ambition and the other PDP candidates.
Speaking collectively on behalf of Utyondu, Isherev and Tyoshin, Elders Augustine Nev, Emmanuel Anza and Innocent Anume respectively endorsed the position of the President of the Ihyarev Family Association.
They emphasised their commitment to the unity, progress and political advancement of the Ihyarev Nation, stressing that a united Ihyarev family would be better positioned to continue supporting the leadership of Chief Samuel Ortom and contribute meaningfully to the success of the PDP in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking briefly, Chief Mike Aondoakaa who briefly passed by,saluted the Ihyarev PDP Family Association for the thoughtfulness of reaffirming its loyalty to the leadership of Chief Samuel Ortom, whom he described as a kindhearted leader. He solicited their support for the PDP, assuring them that his administration would prioritise the provision of security, particularly given that the Ihyarev people have been among the worst hit by insecurity.
Responding, Chief Samuel Ortom applauded the initiative of the leaders of the Ihyarev Family Association, describing their visit as a demonstration of unity and collective purpose.
He expressed appreciation for their continued support and prayers throughout his political journey, saying he was encouraged by the initiative and confident that it would succeed to the glory of God.
Chief Ortom stressed the importance of togetherness, noting that the unity demonstrated by the Ihyarev family was essential for achieving greater goals. He assured them of his support and commitment to sustaining the initiative for the advancement of the people.
Also speaking, Dr. Eunice Ortom expressed appreciation to her kinsmen for their swift response in identifying with her at this critical moment, saying she had enjoyed their love, support and goodwill over the years.
She said their visit had further lifted her spirit and strengthened her resolve to pursue her ambition of representing the people of Benue North-West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
Dr. Eunice Ortom described the renewed unity among the Ihyarev people as long overdue, recalling similar efforts during the leadership eras of Senator Joseph Waku, Chief Padopas Awunna and Chief Valentine Iortim.
She prayed for God’s guidance and the wisdom of their ancestors upon the leadership of the Ihyarev Family Association, expressing hope that the renewed unity would strengthen the family and guide the Ihyarev Nation towards the right path of progress and collective advancement.
