The governorship ambition of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, has continued to attract expressions of support, following a solidarity and familiarisation visit by members of the Kyurav Elite, a political group from the Sankera axis of Benue State.
The group paid a visit to Chief Aondoakaa at his private residence in Makurdi, where its members expressed their solidarity with his political aspiration ahead of the 2027 Benue State governorship election.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the leader of the group, Hon. Michael Atedze, said the visit was intended to identify with Aondoakaa and formally communicate the group’s commitment to his governorship ambition.
Atedze said members of Kyurav Elite would return to their communities and intensify grassroots engagement in support of Aondoakaa and other candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
He described grassroots mobilisation as critical to the success of any political campaign, stressing that the group was prepared to work within its communities to canvass support for the party’s candidates.
Responding, Chief Aondoakaa expressed appreciation to the delegation for what he described as an important gesture of solidarity and support. He assured the group of his willingness to work with stakeholders across the state, particularly communities in the Sankera axis, while emphasizing the need for unity, security and economic recovery in Benue.
Aondoakaa identified insecurity as one of the major challenges confronting the state, particularly in parts of Sankera, and pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would give serious attention to restoring security and creating conditions that would enable displaced residents to return to their ancestral communities and farms.
He stressed the importance of enabling farmers to return to productive agricultural activities, noting that improved security would be central to restoring livelihoods and strengthening the state’s agricultural economy.
The meeting brought together members of the Kyurav Elite and supporters of Aondoakaa in what the group described as a demonstration of its growing interest in the 2027 political contest.
