The Kwande Intermediate Area Interparty Governorship Advocacy Committee, popularly known as Kwande G84 has restated its decision to only support a governorship candidate from the Kwande axis in the 2027 general elections irrespective of his political affliction.

This standing position was made known in Makurdi yesterday when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, met the Kwande Intermediate Area Interparty Governorship Advocacy Committee, popularly known as Kwande G84 and solicited their support towards the realization of his governorship ambition.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Aondoakaa recalled that, as one of the prominent sons of Kwande, he had actively participated in the advocacy visits undertaken by the group to political leaders and various blocs across the state. He said he called them to formally inform the committee of his emergence as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2027 election and to solicit its support.

He noted that although he began his governorship quest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he later defected to the PDP, where he successfully secured the party’s governorship ticket.

Chief Aondoakaa expressed confidence in his ability to win the election with the support of the committee and other Benue people. He also assured the group that his broad cross-party support and extensive public service experience would enable him to provide purposeful and effective leadership if elected governor.

Hon. Atim Ate Azer, who led the PDP delegation at the meeting, appealed to APC members in the committee to embrace Aondoakaa’s candidacy and work towards his victory at the polls.

The APC Zone A Chairman and Leader of Kwande G84, Barr. Vincent Uji, expressed delight that the PDP had produced a Kwande indigene as its governorship candidate and urged other political parties to emulate the move.

Barr. Uji explained that the ultimate objective of the Kwande Intermediate Area Interparty Governorship Advocacy Committee is to ensure that all political parties nominate governorship candidates from Kwande, so that, regardless of which party wins the election, the next Governor of Benue State will emerge from the area.

He assured Aondoakaa that after all political parties conclude their governorship nomination processes, Kwande G84 would assess the prospects of the various candidates before taking a final decision on whom to support.
