The Chairman of Ado Local Government, Hon. Oche Sunday Oche has disclosed that some investors from China have begun talks with the government on how to revive the already moribund Igumale Cement Company.
Engineer Oche who disclosed this recently while appraising the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia stressed that the process of reviving the moribund cement industry after a previous abandonment as a result of insecurity.
The chairman pressed further that foreign are already returning to Ado Local Government as a result of the rapid improvement in the security situation of the area.
His words: “Visitors are welcome to Ado anytime. The investors are already coming back because the security situation has improved”
Speaking further on investment in Ado local government, Oche noted that ₦30 billion has been invested in the local government since he assumed office.
In his words, the massive investment in Ado local government came as a result of the ability of Governor Hyacinth Alia to improve on security across the state.
Saying that Ado is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s infrastructural drive, Oche
said: “I would say Ado is the most favoured local government in Benue State. The investment that has been put into the Ado Local Government since I assumed the office is over ₦30 billion”
He continued that the investments include major road projects, security interventions, healthcare improvements and other critical infrastructure.
The chairman also disclosed that the Igumale–Agila Road project, valued at over ₦20 billion, is nearing completion, while another five-kilometre road network project worth more than ₦6 billion has already been approved and is expected to commence within weeks. He also noted the construction of the ojenyo- Wurukpo – wurego access road.
Speaking on his efforts to complement Governor Alia on security, Oche stated that his administration had strengthened local security by providing operational support, including vehicles and motorcycles, to security personnel, while solar streetlights had been installed across various wards to improve surveillance and deter criminal activities.
He also listed the renovation of the local government secretariat, provision of new office furniture and the installation of solar-powered refrigerators in primary healthcare centres for drug storage among his administration’s achievements.
Oche maintained that the interventions had restored confidence among residents and investors, expressing optimism that Ado would continue to witness increased economic activities in the coming years.
