The governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Benue state, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN has won the first online voting conducted by Nigerian Concord Newspaper.
This is the first online voting out of the ten that have been scheduled by this newspaper.
Other candidates who were on the online ballot are Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressive Congress, Dr. Matthias Byuan of the Labour Party, Chief Sebastine Hon of the Social Democratic Party, Hon. Herman Hembe of the African Democratic Congress and Professor Terhemba Shija of the National Democratic Congress.
The voting which took place between Thursday and this morning was monitored by a team of editors of the newspaper in Lagos State.
Three hundred and sixty nine (369) participants voted during the online voting, though twenty eight votes were voided as a result of multiple voting by some participants.
Out of the 341 valid votes, the Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Chief Aondoakaa got 196 votes while his closest rival, Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressive Congress got 84 votes.
While Honourable Herman Hembe of the African Democratic Congress got 29 votes, Chief Sebastine Hon, Dr. Byuan and Professor Shija got 14 votes, 10 votes and 8 votes respectively.
After the collation of the results this morning, the chairman of the Nigerian Concord Newspaper Online Voting monitoring team, Prince Olukanye Eleko announced Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa as the winner of the first poll after getting the highest votes out of the total votes cast.
Meanwhile, this newspaper will conduct another online poll among the six Governorship candidates on the 15th of this month.
