A close associate of Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State and Convener of Livitsar Support Group, Engr. Dr. Livinus Azer Tsar has won the All Progressives Congress primary for the Jechira Federal Constituency, defeating incumbent Engr. Sesoo Gboko Ikpagher and 12 other aspirants.
Engr Tsar polled 29,549 votes to emerge winner, while Gboko Ikpagher secured 693 votes. A total of 30,365 votes were cast in the primary, which featured 14 candidates.
Announcing the result in Vandeikya, Chairman of the Primary Election Committee Hon. Sylvester Tongov said the outcome reflected the collated figures from all wards in the constituency and was a true record of the voting process.
Speaking after the declaration, Engr Tsar thanked APC members in Vandeikya and Konshisha for voting to make him the party’s flag bearer.
He also acknowledged the role of Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia in ensuring a smooth conduct of the primaries in the area.
Tsar promised to work with party members and stakeholders to strengthen the APC ahead of the general election.
