A former chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Akure South local government area of Ondo state, Barrister Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi has decamped to the African Democratic Congress.
The defection ceremony which took place at Akure Town Hall today, Wednesday was attended by state and national leaders of the African Democratic Congress across the country.
Earlier, Balarabe Akinwumi who is an aspirant for the House of Representatives seat in Akure Federal Constituency picked his membership card at his Ijomu/Obanla Council Ward where he assured party faithfuls and supporters of his patronage.
According to him, ADC is the voice of the voiceless, stressing that the party is out to rescue Ondo state and Nigeria as a whole from the dictatorial administration of the All Progressive Congress.
Speaking further, Akinwumi stated that the ruling party has done a lot of disservice to Nigerians. He added that it’s time for the Nigerian voters to show the ruling party the way out.
He pressed further that the ADC will show the ruling party the power of the powerless because the opposition party has the mandate of the people.
In his speech, the State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Ondo, Asiwaju Ayowole Ademoyegun welcomed Akinwumi and other decampees that decamped with him to the party, assuring him of his fair share in the scheme of things.
He congratulated him for taking a bold step to declare for the party openly, stressing that his step has made today’s event significant.
Ademoyegun appealed to members of the African Democratic Congress to continue to mobilize supports for the party so it can come out victorious in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Other speakers at the event expressed the readiness of the African Democratic Congress to take over from the ruling party at all levels.
They however commended the leadership of the party under Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Raufu Aregbesola for the quality leadership which they have provided since they assumed duties.
