The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Benue State strongly condemned the brutal attack on security personnel in the Mbatyula/Mberev Council Ward of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
The condemnation was made by the chairman of the party, Chief Benjamin Omale in a press statement he signed and made available to journalists this evening in Makurdi.
According to the party, the attack, which occurred on Friday, 19th September 2025, at Agu Center near the Benue–Taraba border, is both reprehensible and unacceptable. “Our thoughts are with the families of the affected officers, as well as the security agencies that have continued to sacrifice in the face of daunting challenges” the party said.
The statement reads in parts: “According to reports, the ambush led to the death of at least two personnel, while twelve others remain unaccounted for. In addition, patrol vehicles were torched and vital security equipment was looted by the assailants. These heinous acts not only endanger the lives of our security agents but also threaten the fragile peace in our communities.
“On behalf of the Benue APC Caretaker Committee we wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and express our solidarity with the affected agencies. We call on the relevant security authorities to intensify investigations, bring the perpetrators to justice, and ensure such attacks do not recur. The government must not allow this cowardly act to go unpunished.
“Violence of this nature has no place in a society striving for peace and development. The people of Sankera axis, in particular, have suffered enough due to prolonged insecurity. We urge community leaders, youth groups, and residents to unite, rise above internal divisions, and support the peace-building efforts of the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
“Finally, we call on the youth to remain vigilant and play an active role in securing their communities. Now more than ever, we must rally behind the leadership of Governor Alia to achieve the lasting peace we all desire. As we take steps toward restoring calm in the affected areas, we pray for the repose of the souls lost and for God’s comfort upon all those grieving during this difficult time”
