Benue Equity and Justice Movement has warned praise singers of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume to stopped playing politics with the graves of innocent Benue people that had lost their lives to genocides.
The group which was reacting to a statement credited to a loyalist of the SGF, Mr. Bemgba Iortyom where he accused Governor Alia of not implementing the Anti Open Grazing Law that was signed by the last administration said that their new style now is to use the Anti Open Grazing Law to blackmail the state governor.
Speaking in a press statement this evening, the Secretary of Benue Equity and Justice Movement, Barrister John Atoki Esq said that attacking Governor Alia over the issue of security at the time he needs the cooperation of every Benue son and daughter as publicly done by Mr. Bemgba today in his media outing is not necessary.
Contrary to his claim in his media note, Governor Alia hasn’t failed in providing security for the people of Benue State since he assumed duties two years ago, the group said.
The group pressed further that President Bola Tinubu should immediately check Senator George Akume whom it accused of paying praise singers to ridicule the administration of Father Hyacinth Alia in the area of insecurity despite a recent presidential order that peace must return to Benue state.
“We are aware that the SGF has been paying various groups and activists to use the insecurity in the state to attack the administration of Father Hyacinth Alia even when they are aware they this insecurity thing is also affecting over 80% of the states in Nigeria.
“Can we now say that Senator George Akume being a respected father in the land is playing politics with the lives of his own people or what?. This has to be looked into by the president before the matter gets out of hand” the group said.
The group went further that this is a new format to perfect their persistent calls for a State of Emergency just to remove the governor from office and have his (Akume) stooge appointed as a Sole Administrator.
Benue Equity and Justice Movement pressed further that it hasn’t been proved anywhere that Governor Hyacinth Alia has canceled the Anti Open Grazing Law, noting that he only called for it to be made a Federal Law so as to be easier to track criminals who may escape from Benue State to neighbouring states like Nasarawa and Taraba states.
The group also made it known that no administration can totally eradicate crimes. “No government can claim that it can totally eradicate crimes because even in the the foreign lands, their governments cannot totally stop criminalities” it added.
