Benue Deputy Gov commends NFSS commitment, calls for Unity in security efforts

The delegation of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS) paid a strategic advocacy visit to His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, at his office in Makurdi, on Monday, June 30, 2025.

The Deputy Governor in his remarks, commended the NFSS for its proactive engagement and expressed confidence that the organisation offers significant solutions to some of the security challenges confronting rural communities in the state.

While encouraging the NFSS officers to share their insights and innovative ideas, Dr. Ode also emphasised the importance of maintaining a harmonious and collaborative relationship with other security agencies, noting that security responsibilities are a collective effort and should not be entrusted to a single entity.

He further reassured officers not to be disheartened by any negative rhetoric from non-state actors, and urged them to remain steadfast and committed to their vital roles in restoring peace and stability across Benue.

Leader of the delegation, Assistant Commander General (ACG) A.A. Ibrahim, North Central Zonal Commander, underscored the necessity of sustained government support in tackling security challenges, emphasising the critical importance of collaboration between state and local governments in empowering security personnel on the ground.

He reaffirmed that NFSS officers are highly motivated and prepared to contribute effectively toward mitigating the insecurity issues affecting Benue, demonstrating their readiness to serve with renewed vigour.
