In a democratic era like ours, there is necessarily a reciprocal relationship between the electorates and their representatives. While on one hand, the constituents are duty bound and encouraged to demand for an account of the stewardship of their elected representatives, on the other, those entrusted with leadership by the goodwill of the people are obligated to render a truthful and unembellished account of their exertions to be reckoned and scored by their constituents.
In addition, this interface takes place in a civil manner devoid of acrimony. In this way, a clear picture of what has been accomplished or failure are contrasted for all to see. However, this protocol is designed to deepen the efforts to proffer practical solutions to the myriad challenges of poverty, development, empowerment, and security that have engulfed our cherished communities in Sankera. Far from it, it is not an avenue to engage mercenaries or hire guns to embark on a campaign of calumny to disparage and make insinuations about the leadership in place, all to lower the quality of social discourse. This is indeed a despicable new normal.
Our constituents know what we have been at and that which is projected, as we have maintained a close liaison and updated always. We listen to our people and identify their yearnings, and apply our energies accordingly.
All the more, without sounding immodest, our achievements within the time frame we have been in service have been in great leaps forward.
We have a mandate to exercise and would not allow ourselves to be distracted by a sanctimonious few, wallowing in the throes of rejection and banishment by our politically versatile constituents.
So that we do not sound discordant like our traducers, we positively assert that we have one or two things to point at, and even more as our achievements, it will be left for our constituents to evaluate and validate. There is no doubt that in one and a half years, the Sankera Representative has done more than any past member in the same position, not counting hagiography and deliberate shenanigans.
At this pace of performance, our people shall benefit from the dividends of democracy and rightly so at the expiration of our tenure.
Finally, we abhor exhibitionism and showmanship. We need not call names nor display pictures of beneficiaries on social media in the name of facilitating their appointments. To assuage the compelling needs of doubters for ripostes but at appropriate time everyone will know.
It is on that note that we bring before you some of the achievements recorded by the able representative and leader of Sankera, the member representing Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo in the past eighteen months, despite the frustrations of serial opposers.
These include:
1. Donation of 20 tricycles to Sankera Women Cooperative Societies/Associations.
2. Construction of Gbor-Adikpo-Alam-Kera Road in Katsina-Ala, first phase completed.
3. Trained and empowered 200 Sankera Youths and Women on various skills and crafts.
4. Construction of Lukul Bridge in Tiir Council Ward Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.
5. Distribution/Installation of Solar Street Lights across Sankera villages including Tor Donga, Tyogbenda-Udende, Gbor, Melabu Market, Zaki, Aboajio, Kyado, Abaji, Tse-Gum Logo, Catholic College Sankera and many others.
6. Drilled Motorized Boreholes across Sankera including; Melabu in Mbayenge , Tine-Nune in Mbatian, Mbaton Market in Tiir, Abaji-Kpav in Michihe, Gonduzua Logo LGA all completed and commissioned.
7. Solar Powered Boreholes in Chito, Jough-Mbatyough and Mchia have been surveyed and drilling will commence shortly. While those at Mbajir, Atogbenda Mbaterem, and Ayilamo are being surveyed now.
8. The Training on Entrepreneurship/Empowerment on SME in Katsina/ Ukum/Logo Fed. Constituency (300 participants trained and financially empowered)
9. The Completion and Commissioning of Constituency Office at Katsina-Ala .
10. The distribution of trucks of fertilizer and farm inputs to farmers in 2024 croping season.
11. An ongoing construction of ICT hub (90% completion ) at Tongov Community Secondary school, Amaafu.
12. Fully equipped Primary Health Care Centre (PHC) with medical equipments, motorized borehole, motorcycle, and generator at Melabu community in Ukum LGA.
13. Primary Healthcare Centre in Ayua, Katsina-Ala LGA supplied with medical equipments, motorcycles and generator in Ikyurav-Tiev II, Katsina-Ala LGA.
14. Ongoing renovation/equipping of general hospital Gbor, Tiir in Katsina-Ala LGA.
15. Constructed and commissioned a Six-class room block at NKST Primary School, Pevikyaa, in Ukum LGA.
16. Award of scholarship to 310 undergraduate students in the 1st phase (2024) and 500 students in the 2nd phase, which is currently ongoing.
17. Facilitation of the recruitment of 4 constituents into police service currently undergoing training at Police Training College Kaduna.
18. Sponsored a Bill for an Act to establish Federal College of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Zaki Biam, which has passed Second Reading.
19. Sponsored a motion to initiate moves to resolve the intractable insecurity in Sankera Axis with prayers to revive, complete, and commission the moribund Mobile Police Unit in Mbazar Community, Logo LGA and construct a Forward Operational Base (FOB) in Sankera to enhance operations as well as deter criminal elements within the axis.
20. Initiated a process to revive and support development associations in Sankera to ensure peaceful coexistence and facilitate development.
21. Facilitated appointment/employment of many Sankera sons to public sector organisations.
22. Sponsored Bill for the upgrade of College of Education Katsina Ala to Federal University of Education and the Bill to amend Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Act to provide for the establishment of agricultural mechanised centre in Ugba Logo Local Govt have also passed the first reading.
We wish to clearly state that we are committed to ensuring that all the promises we made during our campaign are fulfilled and surpassed.
We are aware of and fully understand the problems of our people. We shall continue to engage with them, and by the grace of God, Sankera shall be great again.
