Benue For Good Governance, BGG, has condemned calls made to the National Assembly yesterday by Senators Abba Moro, Titus Zam and Emmanuel Udende to cancel the last Saturday’s local government elections that were held across Benue State.
Also, the Benue Rebirth Movement has described the agitation of the three senator as unfortunate, saying that the election was conducted according to the Nigerian standards.
Speaking in a press statement this morning, the chairman of BGG, Barrister Adem Philip said that Abba Moro has no moral right to ask the Senate to cancel the election which went freely and fairly.
According to him, the Benue South senator calling the other two senators from APC to cancel the free will and rights of the Benue electorates is an indication that there exists a devilish marriage between him and the Benue APC stakeholders to rubbish the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
According to him, Abba Moro is the one causing insecurity in Benue South and he should be investigated and brought to book by the security agencies in Nigeria before he extends his devilish acts to other parts of the state.
He pressed further that it’s very sad that Senators Titus Zam and Emmanuel Udende are teaming up with outsiders to frustrate their own party, APC all in the name of protecting the interest of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume in the ongoing crisis between him and Governor Alia over who controls the structure of the party in Benue state.
He stressed further that instead of Senator Zam to look for a way to face an imminent probe from the EFCC over his dubious activities as the helmsman of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs between 2015 and 2018, he is busy chasing shadow and causing troubles in the party that gave him the position he is occupying today.
The group also mentioned that all their gang up against the local government election is because they were unable to stop the exercise despite the hundreds of political thugs that they brought from the neighboring Kogi, Taraba and Nasarawa states.
BBG also said that the law is clear that Father Hyacinth Alia is the leader of the Benue APC, stressing that the Benue APC stakeholders led by Titus Zam should stop distracting the government from carrying on with its developmental projects just because their godfather lost the structure of the party to the governor.
The group however alleged plans by members of Senator George Akume’s camp to sponsor thugs to cause mayhems at the twenty three local government councils next week.
In its own reaction, Benue Rebirth Movement said that there was nothing wrong with thr conduct of the last local government elections, stressing that it was conducted according to Nigerian standards.
