The social media have been awash with series of sponsored stories about the planned trial of the immediate past governor of Benue state, Chief Samuel Ortom PhD and his official by a Commission on Inquiries into the activities of tbe last administration.
To intelligent people, these media trials are being done to paint the former governor black even when nothing incriminating has been found on him.
Why the media trial if truly his accusers are sure that he has a skeleton in his cupboard? And as a matter of fact, an accused person is presumed innocent until proven otherwise by a “competent” court. Can the Commission which its prominent members decline to be part of be said to be credible or competent? Chief Samuel Ortom and his officials are still innocent until convicted.
Is it that Chief Ortom’s accusers have a plan to falsely indict him before the Commission or that the Commission has been bought over to act an already prepared script which is to wrongly indict the former governor? If the answer is no, then why the media trials and the rush to condemn him in the media even when his judicial trial hasn’t started?
For those that care to listen, Chief Samuel Ortom PhD has said it many times and he is still saying it that he is ready to appear before the Judiciary if called upon to give accounts of the spendings of his administration.
The former governor had even invited his officials many times and instructed them not to hesitate to appear before any Probe Panel if they are called upon. Can such person with such confidence be said not to know what he is doing?
The public expects the accusers and their media handlers to allow the Commission do its job without the unnecessary media trials they have been doing against Chief Ortom.
The media trials of Chief Samuel Ortom suggest that there is a prepared script for the Commission to act and the public which I am part of is watching and won’t delay to expose any plot to falsely indict the former governor.
