The governorship ambition of a former Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN received a huge boost as his ancestral kinsmen yesterday threw their weight behind the aspiration.
The former Chief Law Officer received the blessings and endorsement of his kinsmen when he went to declare his intention to contest the 2027 Governorship election.
Speaking during a visit to his ancestral home, Aondoakaa expressed deep appreciation to his elders and kinsmen for their unwavering support over the years. He recalled the goodwill he enjoyed during his tenure as Minister and the encouragement he received in the build up to the 2023 general election, where he vied for the state’s top seat.
Although the outcome of the election did not meet his expectation, he affirmed his resolve to once again offer himself for service. He stated that his renewed ambition is driven by the urgent need to accelerate development and address the persistent security challenges facing the state. He therefore sought the continued permission, blessings, and prayers of his people as he re-enters the race.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Kindred Head, Tyoor Alexander Ahagh, warmly received the former Minister and his entourage. He commended Aondoakaa for his consistent support for the community since his time in office, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity. Tyoor Asagh assured him of the kindred’s full blessings and prayers, noting that he would govern with justice and fairness if elected.
In separate remarks, respected elders including Shaukuna Gwakyaa, D.D. Udo, and Orbunde Iyusa, speaking on behalf of the three clans of Township, Mbagyor, and Mbaseta, praised Aondoakaa’s statesmanship and reiterated their collective support for his aspiration.
A major highlight of the occasion was the traditional washing of Aondoakaa’s feet, performed by the eldest man in the kindred. The symbolic rite signifies ancestral approval and the conferment of blessings for success.
